Flickr is an online community for image sharing where each user has an individual photoblog, where it can publish photos. These photos can be commented by the other users.
Besides the individual blogs flickr has also communities, internal email and search tools that helps to discover other user photos.
The Open Directory Project is the bigest directory of websites in the world. It covers all themes and almost all languages, pointing to more than 4 million websites, organized in half million categories.
Dmoz is organized by a community of volunteers, and it's content is free. Websites like Google and Alexa use content from dmoz.
I edit the Arts and Entretainment caterories related to Portugal, and the Linux category related to World/Portuguese.

Imagine yourself in a website with over 100.000 images that can be used in other projects, by other people than not the original creators of such images. Legally, freely and without asking for permission, for commercial and non commercial purposes.
To use this images, you just have to give credit to their authors in the project that uses them. Some images can only be used in projects that grant to others the same rights than the image used.
Most of the images that can be found in the Commons are documental. They are appropriate to use in encyclopedias, educational books and news stories
All images that I send to the Commons are under the Creative Commons Share-A-Like license, and they can be used for commercial purposes as well. However they can't be used in projects under Copyright that do not have a similar free license.
The Ubuntu Linux is a free Linux operation system. The Ubuntupédia is a website in Portuguese that presents Ubuntu to people that have few knowledges in Linux.
With my participation in the Ubuntupédia I want that more people can experiment and use this operative system and free aplications.
